PikeRide Expands into Southeast Colorado Springs and Adds Adaptive and Cargo eBikes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. May 4, 2026 – PikeRide, the nonprofit electric bike share serving Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs, announced a major expansion of service in Southeast Colorado Springs and the addition of adaptive etrikes and ecargo bikes to PikeRide’s public ebike fleet. This capital expansion is funded through the Colorado Energy Office’s Community Accelerated Mobility Project (CAMP) and will continue through December 2028.

The addition of 100 ebikes, two adaptive etrikes, and four ecargo bikes represents a 30% increase in PikeRide’s fleet. This growth will allow the system to reach more residents, including those with specific mobility needs, prioritizing inclusive, sustainable, and connected mobility solutions.

Through this expansion, PikeRide aims to strengthen first- and last-mile connections, reduce transportation barriers, and support healthier, more resilient neighborhoods.

Residents in Southeast Colorado Springs will have greater access to jobs, essential services, and social opportunities. The new adaptive etrikes will provide affordable, specialized recreational options for individuals with limited mobility, while ecargo bikes will make every day errands and small business operations more practical and cost-effective.

“This is about more than adding ebikes to our fleet, it is about connecting people to opportunity,” said Tara McCarthy, Executive Director of PikeRide. “Expanding into Southeast Colorado Springs means more residents can access jobs, essential services, and community spaces in an affordable and reliable way. At the same time, adding adaptive etrikes and ecargo bikes ensures that more people, regardless of physical ability or income level, can benefit from PikeRide.”

PikeRide anticipates that over 442,000 trips covering over 818,000 miles will be traveled throughout the lifetime of the additional ebikes, continuing El Paso County’s vision for economic development, environmental stewardships, public health, and social equity.
