5 Things to Know Before Riding

All Colorado College students, staff, and faculty get access to 30 minutes of free ride time each day to get where you need to go. Ride to class, meet up with friends to study at a local coffee shop, access groceries and other resources, or simply take a study break and enjoy a ride.

As a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit, funds from our bike share drive our mission to close the transportation gap in our community. Keeping rides affordable is an intentional part of our mission, and every PikeRide trip is already subsidized by 80% or more. We ask for your help in caring for our system that connects individuals to their community, job opportunities and interviews, medical resources, and housing.

  1. Your free Colorado College membership requires verification

Want to make sure you are using your free Colorado College membership? You must verify your email in the PikeRide app, and make sure to do soat least two hours prior to your first ride. If the verification process isn’t complete, pay as you go fees will be incurred.

How to Verify Your Membership:

  • Tap the menu icon in the top left of the app

  • Tap Account, then “Edit account”

  • Tap your email

  • Hit “Verify” or “Reverify” and you will be prompted to enter the code sent to your CC email address

  • Enter the code and allow 2 hours for verification to process before riding

2. Only you can prevent theft

PikeRide ebikes are powerful tools for transportation. When bikes are not properly secured with the cable around a rack or post at the end of a trip, theft or vandalization can occur, meaning one less bike is available to community members who depend on them to access work, medical resources, community, and more.

Many people use PikeRide ebikes as their only form of transportation; visit our End Trip Photo page to ensure you’re ending trips to prevent theft.

3. Public bikes must remain publicly available

PikeRide ebikes are a public service for any community member to use and advanced reservations are not taken. Help us keep them publicly available by refraining from placing a personal lock on a PikeRide bike, as this is strctly prohibited.

Make sure your fellow students can get to class, members of the community can get to work, and keep your membership from getting suspended by keeping PikeRide ebikes publicly available.

4. End trips on campus at a station

Colorado College has worked with PikeRide to keep campus walkable and bikeable. To ensure everyone can move freely, all trips on campus must be ended only at official PikeRide stations.

The Colorado College campus is marked in the PikeRide app as the shaded grey area you see in this photo.

Any trips on campus parked outside of campus stations will accrue additional ride time and potentially fees, as trips will not be able to be ended until parked at a station. Help keep campus walkable and bikeable by parking properly.

If you are ending a trip outside of campus, you may park outside of a PikeRide station for a $1 parking convenience fee.

5. You can upgrade your ride time to 90 minutes a day

30 minutes gets you around campus and downtown, and 90 minutes can give you more time outside to explore Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods, local businesses, and really get a feel for our community without a car.

You can upgrade for a highly discounted rate of $82.50 until September 18th or $99 afterwards.

To explore more, enter CCUPGRADE in the PikeRide app menu under coupons and credits to be taken to the purchase screen.

As a reminder: Whether you have the free 30 minute membership or upgraded 90 minute membership, you can always ride more than your daily ride time for 25 cents per additional minute, which is our standard pay as you go rate.

The bike will not stop once you reach your allotted minutes for the day. Riders should keep an eye on their bike’s battery level in the app throughout their trip, and plan to swap bikes at a nearby station as they approach 30%.
